I Like Journalistic Writing

What skill would you like to learn?

Hi everyone, allow me to introduce my self. My name is Mohammad Nasir, from Tangerang, Indonesia.

I manage this blog with my friends, and we gave the name of it “Catatan Forum Senja” (in English is Twilight Forum Notes).

I like learning writing up to now. When I was young I have learned journalistic writing in various styles, such as straight news, features, writing profile, and investigative reporting.

Up to now I like it so much. But I have never been studied at the formal journalism university or journalistic study of communication faculty at any university. I learned journalistic at institute of courses and training in Jakarta and Yogyakarta.

In Yogyakarta I learned journalistic at Institute of Yogyakarta Education, Training, Publication and Research (LP3Y).

With skills that I required from courses, then I worked at Suara Karya daily news paper and Kompas daily in Jakarta (1989- 2018). Kompas is the biggest news paper in Indonesia.

As a journalist I have many opportunity to meet many people, I covered the news in many conflict zones, such as in Cambodia, Bosnia Herzegovina and at the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan when US launched rockets and bom at the Afghanistan many years ago.

With my skill, I also joined at the working group of education, training, and development of journalist profession at the Indonesian Press Council in Jakarta (2022- May 2025), and sometimes I teach journalistic for journalist who want to follow journalist competency test, and also sometime I am asked as an accessor for competency test.

With my skill and my experiences in journalism, I was asked to be chief of Education at the central of Indonesian Journalist’s Association (2023- 2024).

That’s the importance of learning skill.
